People everywhere.

Published by lilEndian under ZoneA

It’s the festival season. It looks like they made some extra people just to fill the streets and shopping malls. It’s crazy to see so many of them on the road :) — it’s not like ‘m not used to, but, some people should stay back home. Atleast, to attend the phone calls when the other people are frantically trying to reach them.

It’s Diwali, the streets are so well lit and the mood in the air is electric. It’s awesome, people are just spending too much money to shop and such.

So, you buy stuff that you cannot put in your current home. You get a bigger home, then you again buy stuff, ‘cos that stuff you’ve already is not enough to fill the space.

People in Bangalore are really living in the “Space age” :)

First Pitstop…

Published by lilEndian under ZoneA

…in more than 6 years. It’s been quite a journey, so far so good. “So what?”, I think.

Here’s what ‘ve been telling myself all these years. Change is good, it will help me be on my toes and be more sensible. I’ve had bad days, had better and good days. That’s not gonna change, that’s how the world works, you get one when you lose the other. I’m not worried about that. But, ‘m not trying to simplify the whole thing, I’ve my way of looking at things.

There are two kinds of people, the ones who are on your side and the rest on the other side. But, they think the same, they wish good things for you. One of my favourite lines from “The Alchemist”

“What’s the world’s greatest lie? It’s this: that at a certain point in our lives, we lose control of what’s happening to us, and our lives become controlled by fate. ”

It’s not like ‘m gonna start building pyramids, ‘ll be doing the same damn thing. The four walls are gonna be bouncing of the same kinda voices and thoughts, it’s just that, ‘ll feel different for a few days. I’ve been warned of being attached to a job emotionally, so, ‘m trying to be indifferent to the whole thing. Well, it’s never that simple, is it? Your definition of being or existence is underlined by your first job, and, nothing can take away the credit. So, you have to give that to it. I respect that.

The pitstop thing is my way of saying, that ‘m into F1. I love F1, ‘ve been watching since the day they started showing it on TV, 1994 to be precise. I’ll reserve that for another blog sometime.

So, today is my last day at my current job. I’ve never done this before, it’s not like one does this often, you shouldn’t. I’ve had fun out here, it has earned me the respect that I’ve walk with today. I’ve travelled to parts of the world, which I’ve only dreamt of before I got here. “United States of America?” if you ask, “Precisely!” will be my answer.

Chicago Rulez! I loved my stay there, if not for anything else, I’ll go there just for the music — Blues, Jazz, Rock, trance, I saw everything out there. Oh yea, I even saw Brij Bhushan Kabra at the World music festival.

I’ve worked with some cool people in the last 6 years, Bangalore and Chicago. We’ve done some great things together, it’s been lot of fun.

I’ve no regrets, I should never have, I believe.

Rains and Ruins

Published by lilEndian under ZoneA

There’s a lot of water everywhere in the city. I mean, LOT of water. The record for the highest rainfall which was guarded for the last 50 years has been broken. So, where does this leave us?

This is another “feather in the cap” for the city development authorities. A bleeding infrastructure, and a continuous downpour, thanks to the torrential rains will leave its mark for good. The only good news I can see here is, the worst fears have come true, sooner than later. And, “the bad news?”, you may ask. Well, the news is all bad.

Not as pretty as it looks.

What’s wrong with the Roads?
The first thing bad about them, they are still called “Roads” — even if the meteors will think twice to fall on, ‘cos no further damage can be done. There are enough craters you’ve to climb when you’re driving. If you’re thinking about competing in motor-cross, you can train here in bangalore, we’ve world class facilities. Some even try their hands with mountain climbing in certain roads. Now, with the rains playing their part in perfection, it’s a pretty site baby!

If you take away the people from here for a minute, it will make a perfect picture of a ruined city, — a site of archeological heritage. Sad but true :(

Waterfilled craters

What were they waiting for?
Well, all the water in the ground has to get drained somewhere. Believe me, that’s what they’ll say. Ok, they were not anticipating this amount of growth in a short span. But, it’s not rocket-science to realise that it’s happening too fast. And, if something’s not done, SOMETHING will happen, and it did.

Traffic and Road sense
This is one of the places, where you can wade through the traffic faster if there wasn’t a traffic cop standing on the side. Traffic exists and road sense doesn’t. Say for instance, if we were very serious about traffic offenders, it’ll be difficult to let anyone drive on road, it’s that bad. The cops are helpless too. But, unless some heavy fines are introduced, people aren’t gonna get serious about driving with sense. But, there’s loads of fun on the road.

See, that's what I meant.

Otherwise? Man, Bangalore is awesome.

Bar brawls.

Published by lilEndian under ZoneA

Scene 1:
It’s 10:45 p.m, another 45 minutes to go before they will call it a close, the DJ is spinning the music, people are storming in, the dance floor is packed and the alcohol is flowing in. It’s picture perfect, another Saturday-party night. Unfortunately, all that’s well doesn’t end well, apparently.

Scene 2:
One of the men in focus, Mr. Holyfield (first sample) lands a hard jab on the left cheek of Mr. Foreman (sample 2). Note that they are from different generations, that’s how mixed up they can get. A toughie of a guy in Foreman, is up on his toes, jumping, fuming, cussing, now falls on Holyfield. Now, they are on the floor either trying to swim or clean the floor, but, nothing they aren’t capable of anything more.

Scene 3:
Appearing as the cool guy on the scene, talking like a “Bar brawl consultant”, employed by “FightClub Associates” is our man (the real sample) Mr. Blair. He seems like the one who’s trying to get things in order. Atleast, he has assumed that role, without letting anyone know.

Blair, Foreman, Holyfield and the rest.

The deal here is, being Mr. Blair is more dangerously stupid than being Foreman or Holyfield, why? There are some special people employed like Mr. Rock, who are not just cutting-edge, they also heal the wounds :) Also, people like Blair, only add to the list of buffaloes who have sneaked into the highway.

Holy in the field, being a foreman or even a “blair” thought is like a moron wrapped in an idiot.

Koshy’s Rocks!

Published by lilEndian under ZoneA

So, last night was a regular Koshy’s night. V, Sam and I were out there till 10:30. A joined me later, and Novex too. After that, we hung out at javacity and got home 1:30-ish, man, I was pooped out.

Koshy’s — one of the oldest joints in the city, attracts any kinda of person who walks by. I’ve been visiting koshy’s regularly for the last 5-6 years. It’s some respect I have for the place, that I’m there atleast twice a week. I know few of the regulars with myself being one among and made some good friends out there.

It was with Venkabu that i visited the place the first time, and ‘ve been going there ever since. V, Sam, Shiva and I have been meeting up there for the last 5 years, of course, they have been going there for the last 8 years. So, what ’bout the place?

It’s an ordinary looking place with high ceiling walls, no ventillation, un-fancy tables and chairs, noisy. Imagine a place which is popular for all the wrong reasons :) , but, still it attracts the true bangalorean. The artists, musicians, journalists, techies and businessmen catch up for a drink. I’ve been to some swank restaurants, pubs and such. But, being at Koshy’s gives me a sense of belonging, which makes me go there all the time. I’ve been there during all times of the day — breakfast, lunch, tea and dinner :)

And, the people who work there, are awesome. We know most of them, they are very good.

I’m a huge Koshy’s fan!! It really rocks!!

Check out this article on the Hindu.

One of the days I’ll tell yall ’bout JavaCity.

Behavioral study.

Published by lilEndian under ZoneA

So, 37.987% of the people who can do 12.356% of the things in 43 different ways use both their legs while walking. And, the others use it better for running. But, people who don’t fall under either of those, can jog for the rest of their lives. That was from a recent study.

I’ve always wondered about the people who come up with those “intelligent” reports. I’ve to live my life in 10 different ways on the same day, if I’ve to go with 2 of them. I can see atleast one such report on the paper every day.

This morning, it was about people who jog / walk better if they’ve the music on, ‘’m not kidding. It looks like the guy who did the survey, went around asking questions to people who jogged…and they put on the music instantly, and ran as fast as they could, trying to get away.

See, if that’s really the case, people who listen to classical music should be able to walk for 2 continuous days without a break, than the people who listen to hip-hop and such.

Sometimes, I really think, what if we’re all the result of an experiement which failed miserably, because the ID (”Intelligent Designer”) of the world, mixed weak carboxylic-acids, because the required one was not available.

Anycase, I’ll continue to exist the way I’m and do what I do best.

But, why?

Published by lilEndian under ZoneA

This is something that I’ve been wanting to do in a long long time. I had this domain bought and wanted to jump in right away. But, first things first, work was taking most of my time, and, I didn’t wanna do anything after I got back home.

But, why do we blog? What’s the obsession to blog? What makes it interesting for others to know what I do? Are people really that interested in getting to know what I’m upto? I’ll get to that later, now, let’s be part of the system and keep the blogs updated.
